Cosplay—bringing your favorite characters from anime, manga, games, and more to life—has traditionally been an integral part of the AnimagiC. At AnimagiC, you can be anyone you want: Sailor Moon or Naruto, Iron Man or Sephiroth, Super Mario, Princess Zelda, or Ariel the mermaid. Year after year, more AnimagiC attendees take the opportunity to visit the convention in cosplay, turning a walk around the convention into a truly special experience.

Want to come to AnimagiC in cosplay too? Great! Attendees of all ages are warmly invited to do so. However, specific safety rules apply to your outfits and any associated prop weapons at the Congress Center Rosengarten Mannheim: the Cosplay Rules for Attendees.

The following guidelines apply to costumes and carrying prop weapons:

To ensure the safety of all attendees, all cosplay prop weapons and props, as well as wings, trains, and similarly bulky costume parts, must be checked in at the (free) cosplay cloakroom in the entrance foyer when entering the Convention Center.

For checked-in prop weapons and other accessories, owners will receive a receipt; upon presentation, the submitted items will be returned. Checked-in prop weapons can be collected on Friday and Saturday until 1:00 AM each day. On Sunday, checked-in prop weapons must be collected by 7:15 PM. Items not collected will be disposed of by AnimagiC immediately after the event.

The following restrictions and rules also apply:

  • All attendees carry their cosplay and accessories at their own risk and may be held liable for any resulting damage.
  • Staged fights are prohibited across the entire site (including the forecourt).
  • Intimate body parts such as breasts, the genital area, and buttocks must be covered.•
  • The toilets at Rosengarten Mannheim are not to be used as changing rooms. Cosplayers who disregard this rule may be held liable for cleaning the sanitary facilities. Instructions from the restroom staff must be followed.
  • Live animals are generally not permitted, also out of consideration for animal welfare (exception: assistance dogs).
  • Rosengarten Mannheim does not accept props, large cosplays, and/or costume parts in advance of AnimagiC.

In the event of violations of these costume and prop-weapon rules, items may be confiscated.

ATTENTION: Please understand that we cannot approve cosplays in advance or review exceptions or permissions. The final decision always lies with on-site security and crew, who will also take current building capacity and crowd flow into account in their assessment.
