Since 1999, in close cooperation with leading figures from the German, Japanese and international industry, AnimagiC has presented an extensive, diverse, and exclusive program every summer, dedicated to all facets of Japanese (pop) culture. Since 2017, it has been held at Rosengarten Mannheim and, across four levels, hosts a whole weekend of top-class guests of honor and top-tier music acts from Japan, its own anime movie and series festival, a diverse supporting program of workshops, panels and shopping, plus a large games area and a varied stage program, including the AnimagiC Stage Cosplay, performances by local show ensembles and much more.
Traditionally, AnimagiC is a three-day event, defined by the community’s peaceful, cheerful community spirit and the unique live experience of the curated program. Day tickets are only offered in the final phase of advance sales. Information about on-site ticket sales will only be published after advance sales have ended. As in recent years only a small number of ticket has been available at the box office on-site, we strongly recommend buying tickets in advance, especially if you have a longer journey. Reservations at the box office and predictions on the duration of ticket availability are not possible.
At the venue, your ticket will be exchanged for a corresponding festival wristband before entry (see admission guidelines). The wristband grants entry to the Rosengarten building, which you may leave and re-enter as often as you like during the wristband’s validity. However, participation in individual program points is not guaranteed, as the number of tickets available is based on the capacity of the entire convention building with all its rooms (with parallel programming)! Once a room has reached its maximum capacity for a program point, no further admission is possible. We cannot provide a recommendation for queueing times in advance—generally, there is program running on all four levels every day, including two concert halls and numerous additional screening, workshop and panel rooms. The festival wristband must not be removed from your wrist during AnimagiC. Lost wristbands will not be replaced. The wristband must not be passed on to another person.
Please note that program points and concerts already announced for the listed rooms may have to be cancelled—for example, if an artist falls ill—and a replacement program will then be scheduled at short notice. Such a cancellation of individual music acts/program points is not grounds for a complaint and does not entitle you to cancel your AnimagiC ticket.
Autograph sessions at AnimagiC are generally free of charge, but limitations and special requirements (e.g. a raffle, autograph ticket distribution in advance, purchase of merchandise) may apply depending on the artist management’s guidelines. As soon as we are informed of any requirements, we will communicate them on the website, in the program booklet and at the venue.
AnimagiC is an on-site experience intended exclusively for ticket holders. For this reason, live-streaming is not permitted at the convention, and there is a strict ban on filming, photography, and any other kind of recordings in the concert and screening halls and panel rooms. We kindly ask for your understanding in particular that many of our guests of honor do not wish to be filmed, photographed or recorded in any other way.
The program booklet with all floor plans, dates and regulations (as of the program booklet’s editorial deadline; subject to change; please always also follow on-site announcements) is usually published around mid-July, about two to three weeks before the event begins.
